He was born in 1954 in Athens. He initially studied under the engraver Fotis Mastichiadis. He then studied engraving and lithography in Paris at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts (1974-1978) with teachers L. Coutaud, J. Lagrange and G. Dayez. He continued studying Arts Plastiques at the University of Paris VIII, until 1980. He held his first solo engraving exhibition in Athens, at the Nees Morfes Art Gallery in 1978.

• Lithography is a printing technique which was invented around 1798 by A. Alois Senefelder, based on the fact that water and fats are never mixed.
• The theme or representation is drawn with greasy chalk on a stone (porous limestone) or tin plate and then dried. When water runs on the designed surfaces, the greasy ink “catches” only in the places that are engraved and not in the wet stone.
