VIRUS CERAMICUS / MANOLIS PATRAMANIS
He was born in 1965 in Crete, Greece.
Since 1983 he has been studying ceramics and dealing with clay and the multitude of his techniques. Participates in various art and trade exhibitions at home and abroad. He also worked as an instructor, teaching ceramics in vocational schools and was a founding member of the cultural group “Keramon”, which is dedicated to supporting and enhancing this ancient art. Since 1988 he created his own laboratory in Heraklion, Crete, where he lives and works until today.
For his sculptures, Manolis Patramanis uses various high temperature clays, as well as pseudo-porcelain and porcelain.
The clays are painted with metal oxides and stains, Manolis with these basic materials gives shape to his ideas and feelings, the final decoration is achieved using glasses and bronze.
The pieces are then baked at temperatures of 1065 – 1280 C for up to 24 hours to give permanent colors that do not fade.
Manolis’ works are part of the collection of Greek Handmade Creations and are made only in Crete by Manolis with the help of his wife.
Each piece is equipped with a “Certificate of Authenticity” and a card with information about the artist.
Many of the pieces have a “signature”, while others have the “Virus Ceramicus” logo stamped on them.
