Artist’s CV

Pantelias Miltos

He was born in 1954 in Athens. He initially studied with the engraver Fotis Mastichiadis. He then studied engraving and lithography in Paris at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts (1974-1978) with teachers L. Coutaud, J. Lagrange and G. Dayez. He continued studying Arts Plastiques at the University of Paris VIII, until 1980. He held his first solo engraving exhibition in Athens, at the Nees Morfes Art Gallery in 1978.
He was engaged in painting, drawing and engraving. His works are figurative, with a strong human presence, especially the female one. The complex treatment of the images and the emphasis on details highlight the poetic dimension of the subjects and the multiplicity of concepts. The color is limited, the drawing very precise and delicate, while the feeling of fragility of the paper becomes part of the figurative writing. The successive levels of surface treatment evoke recycled memories, intensifying the sense of nostalgia and the passage of time. The values of the past come back in renewed form in a new context, connecting the lessons of art history with the present. The technical means often refer to methods of engraving, even in paintings.
He has held many solo exhibitions in Greece and other European countries. He has also participated in many group exhibitions and art meetings in Greece and abroad. He has created numerous engravings for collector’s editions and illustrated poetry collections.
His works are included in the collections of the Bibliotheque Nationale in France and in Greece in the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art, the Frisira Museum, the Florina Museum of Contemporary Art, the Anthropological Museum of Ptolemaida in Municipal Galleries, private Museums and Foundations as well as in many private collections in Greece and abroad.
