Yannis Vakirtzis

He was born in Piraeus in 1957 from a family of painters, so he started exhibiting very early. From the age of 14, his works were collected. First solo exhibition at the age of 17 – Piraeus art gallery – since then he has held over 40 solo exhibitions in Greece and mainly abroad. While he had been admitted to electrical engineering at NTUA, he gave up to devote himself to painting. He studied music, spatial architecture, studied at ASKT, entered the first 3, studied painting with professor Dimitris Mytaras, Panourgia sculpture, Giorgos Mavroidis, Panagiotis Tetsis, finished with honors and a scholarship in the art of the book. He continued with free postgraduate studies abroad, where he met and became friendly with celebrities such as Arman, Cessar, major presentations of the work of Richard Gray gallery New York and MOMA museums contemporary art with the art video “Vanito” in which a man acrobats on a bike to attract the attention of others is constantly in danger and no one pays attention to him when he sits down to rest then this to others is a nuisance.
