Theodoros Stamos has influences from Asian art, China-Japan. Contrary to the European tradition of dualism, “the painter-subject considers nature-object”, the painter is identified with nature. Influences that received not only himself but also Rothko and Pollock.
Stamos has been using the term field since 1954. Until Mount Athos invades the Fields , as the innumerable joy of light and spring. But dark black always lurks, as a threat, intertwined with his state of health. A deeply depressed person, whose only joy is creation – and only – and as a cure.
What prevailed in his consciousness were the Endless fields of human exaltation and escape. Being himself in constant, usually unmanifest, deep melancholy. The endless fields of the Lefkada natural environment gave him the strength to endure this deep melancholy from the unfortunate, personal events of his life, and to endure, being in the vastness of thought, that the small Lefkada space opens.
- Screen printing is the exact reproduction of limited copies of an original work.
- For reproduction, a silk grid is used stretched on a crate, hence the term Silkscreen, and as many crates as the colors of the work are used.
- The papers used for reproduction are cotton handmade 280-300gr type Fabriano.
- After the reproduction, the crates are destroyed by the painter to ensure the collectibility of the work.
- The Silkscreens are signed and numbered in pencil by the painter (numbering on the left and signature on the right) and are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
