• The Graces they were from the beginning deities of nature, of the plant world, the source of all joy and all pleasure not only to man but also to the gods. In Akidalia, the spring of Orchomenus, the one dedicated to Aphrodite, the three virgin sisters were born, daughters of Zeus and Oceanida Eurynomis, according to Hesiod’s version which is also the most prevalent: h Aglaia (the shining one), Euphrosyne (the joy of the soul) and Thalia (the flowering plant).
