Vincent Van Gogh

Digital exhibition with more than 1000 of his works.

All over Europe, museums are closed due to the coronavirus , but technology in the midst of this pandemic has found a way to make art accessible to everyone.

The first step in this direction was made by the Netherlands by launching the project, to bring the works close to the public to enjoy them from the safety of their homes.

The digital platform “Van Gogh Worldwide” https://vangoghworldwide.org/ brings together 1,000 works by the great painter Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890).

Free and immediate access to a major work by Vincent Van Gogh with the new digital platform created by the initiative and collaboration of Dutch museums. The digital platform “Van Gogh Worldwide” is the result of a collaboration between the Kröller-Müller and Van Gogh Museums, the Netherlands Institute for Art History and the country’s Cultural Heritage Agency.

To mention  that the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam has the largest collection of Van Gogh’s works and includes 220 paintings, 500 drawings and 800 letters.

The innovative platform Van Gogh Worldwide only hosts works from Dutch museums. A future venture is to add works by the artist that are scattered in museums or private collections  across the planet.

Each work is accompanied by explanatory notes on its history, exhibitions in which it has been exhibited, bibliography and technical information.

Also includes additional photographs of each work and scholarly publications, as well as correspondence of the famous painter with members of his family and other artists.

Search results can be filtered by subject, material and date a project was created.

We hope to see other such efforts soon because art is the medicine of the soul.
